The MCF organises annual league competitions for member clubs, along with the Manchester Congress in August each year, and participation within the National County Championships.

  • Season 25-26 is now complete!
    Congratulations to all the winners in the 25-26 season, we hope you had as much fun playing competitive chess as we did! Special mention goes to Marple who secured only their 2nd ever title! Well done Marple!
  • 3Cs Newly Titled Players
    Two of 3Cs’ longest-serving players, John Bentley and Dale James, have been honoured by the world governing body for chess who have granted them the title of FIDE Candidate Master.   • Chess Grandmaster Jan Timman dies aged 74
    It is with great sadness that we’ve learned of the passing of Chess Grandmaster – nicknamed ‘The Best of the West’ has passed away aged 74 GM Timman played in the Manchester Open at Owens Park in 1970 scoring 4.5 points.
