The MCF organises annual league competitions for member clubs, along with the Manchester Congress in August each year, and participation within the National County Championships.

  • 3Cs – Mayoral Appreciation Award
    Updated with some photos 3Cs chess club in Oldham have again been honoured for their organisation and dedication to children, especially in the Oldham area, by the Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Eddie Moores conferring his personal “Mayoral Appreciation Award” on the club.  This comes after the Mayor and Mayoress also visited one of their weekly… Read more: 3Cs – Mayoral Appreciation Award
  • Manchester Summer Congress 2025 – Report and Prize list
    Almost a hundred chess players, plus families, friends and onlookers, attended the three days at the UNIVERSITY OF BOLTON ARENA and took part in another successful event. All the participants played in FIDE RATED events; five round Swiss Tournaments. The FIDE OPEN enjoyed upgraded facilities from 2024 in response to popular requests.   • 3Cs Featured on Local Radio
    3Cs were recently featured on the local Oldham Community Radio station when club founder Steve Rigby and Alan Burke were interviewed about the history and success of 3Cs. The interview can be heard via a link on the front page of the 3Cs website https://www.3cschessclub.com
  • International Chess Day!
    To celebrate International Chess Day (20 July) 3Cs attempted to break the record for the number of hits on their club website in one day.
